Ashadhi Ekadashi — the wari at Vitthala's door

In Maharashtra this is the year's greatest Ekadashi: the Pandharpur wari — palkhis of Dnyaneshwar from Alandi and Tukaram from Dehu, walked for weeks by lakhs of warkaris singing abhangas — arrives at Vitthala's temple today. The darshan queues run for kilometres, the town becomes a sea of tulsi-mala and bhagwa flags, and the state fasts with the walkers.
